blue nose poets/ writers inc.

The Blue Nose Poets are Mario Petrucci and Sue Hubbard.

For the best part of a decade, writers inc. was a national poetry organisation run by the Blue Nose Poets, based in London. It provided live and correspondence workshops, cross-artform events, residential courses, platforms for new writing, poetry competitions and creative writing services to schools (including a ground-breaking mentoring scheme). These activities were suitable for beginners and more experienced writers alike.

Blue Nose Poetry was originally formed in 1988 by a group of North London writers. Mario joined soon afterwards, later co-founding writers inc., funded by London Arts and ACE to produce high quality live events at venues around London, as well as regular international poetry competitions. Unusually, writers inc. bridged prose and poetry, along with hybrid forms.

Together, Blue Nose Poetry and writers inc. provided many of the 'templates' for literary activity which other London-based organisations have followed. They played a vital role in seeding the London poetry scene we find today.

Not that Petrucci's efforts are in the past tense! His exciting, vibrant contributions to the literary scene continue. An impressive performer of his own work, he provides original themed events (such as poetry and war/ science/ ecology), workshops and readings to suit practically any venue, along with readings, seminars and educational projects to explore contemporary poetic themes. He organises creative writing tutorials and workshops (both one-off and residential) for festivals, schools, colleges and libraries, catering for prose and poetry.
